A Day In The Life..

What I have learned during the covid lockdown:

  • you really don’t need much to live, just the basic necessities.

  • be more grateful.

  • take care of your mental health.

  • you choose who you allow in your life.

  • setting boundaries.

  • getting rid of excess.

  • be sustainable (with common sense).

You can survive with just the basic necessities, which is food and toiletries. You don’t need the next fashion trend or be following it. It certainly isn’t going to save you during covid or any survival situation.

Be more grateful with whatever you have in your life now. Be grateful you have a job, be grateful you have a roof over your head, be grateful you have food to eat, be grateful you receive gifts, be grateful you have technology that has access to everything in the comfort of your home. Nowadays, people can easily contact their family and friends in seconds with social media comparing to the past - snail mail, expensive phone calls so call times are limited. You can watch whatever you want, no need to wait for a week or a certain time for a favourite tv show/movie. You have access to any book in the world to read. You have videos in Youtube that helps you with a lot of things, food to eat - so many people don’t have the luxury to choose what they want to eat let alone have anything to eat at all.

Gifts - just be grateful you’re actually getting anything at all, again, not everyone is lucky to have family or friends to receive gifts from, or family working like horses just to be able to get the gift.

Younger generation (not all of course) now are not grateful, not disciplined, they are entitled and spoiled.

Mental health is important. If people attack you about it then look elsewhere for help. There’s no need to rub salt in the wound if someone needs help. If you have nothing helpful to say then say nothing at all.

I have come to the point where i have more than enough friends in my life. Just because someone tells me that someone is good doesn’t mean i automatically allow them into my life. It is your choice, don’t allow anyone to force you to be friends with anyone.

Set boundaries in your life, in your relationships. You need this to respect yourself, and to show if people respect you too if they respect the set boundaries.

Getting rid of excess. This accounts for everything. Materials, people, digital space.

Be sustainable with common sense. Yes common sense! i say this for I see people who are sustainable with one thing but a complete hypocrite on other things. An example would be going through kitchen utensils like toilet paper. That wouldn’t be the case if you took care of the utensil. Actually cleaned it and maintain it properly. How is going through pans and utensils often sustainable at all? Paper is easily recycled. Did you even think about the utensils you throw out often because it’s dirty. So, COMMON SENSE!

Enough of my ranting.

Stay safe everyone.
